Pope Francis and Al Gore: A Private Meeting to Accelerate the Ecological Transition

This afternoon Pope Francis received Al Gore.

The former vice president of the United States is in Rome for the three-day summit of his association Climate Reality Project. With the Holy Father there were Father Enzo Fortunato, coordinator of World Children's Day, and his deputy, Aldo Cagnoli.

Gore said that the Vatican is an example of ecological transition also in practice, citing the recent announcement of a mega agrivoltaic plant in Santa Maria Galeria.
Together they underlined the need to accelerate the transition despite the resistance of large fossil fuel companies and discussed possible forms of collaboration to try to have a greater impact on public opinion.

Al Gore also announced that he will contribute to the next World Children's Day in 2026.
